Reception Rome is an artist-run exhibition space dedicated to comprehensive, artist-led projects and initiatives founded and directed by Ilaria Ortensi and Jean-Jacques du Plessis in September of 2025. Working collaboratively with invited artists, the program supports both newly conceived works and expanded presentations of existing practices.
With an approach to exhibition-making as a collaborative and open-ended process, Reception Rome creates opportunities to experiment with duration, context, and modes of display. Projects may unfold over the course of a season or take the form of a singular presentation, offering audiences a broader view of an artist’s practice and its evolving concerns.
Reception Rome welcomes both local and international artists whose practices embrace inquiry, risk, and transformation. Its structure evolves with each exhibition, adapting to the specific concerns, methods, and ambitions of the artists it hosts.
